1.4GWh! East Enables Full Capacity Grid Connection of Northwest China’s Largest Independent Energy Storage Power Station

Recently, the Xinjiang Huadian Urumqi Photovoltaic Base 1GW/4GWh independent new type energy storage demonstration project achieved full capacity grid connection. This marks the official commissioning of the largest independent energy storage power station in Xinjiang, setting a milestone benchmark for the construction of Xinjiang’s new power system.

As the core energy storage system supplier, East provided a total of 1.4GWh of advanced energy storage equipment for this project, with the main model being a 6.7MW/26.8MWh centralized liquid-cooled energy storage system that has undergone rigorous environmental testing. In the extreme environment of the northern part of the desert in Urumqi’s Midong District, East’s energy storage solution demonstrated excellent adaptability and reliability.

Core support for new type power systems
This project is a key demonstration project in Xinjiang’s new energy storage field and an important part of the national “14th Five-Year Plan” for promoting high-quality development of new energy. After its commissioning, the project will fully leverage the core functions of energy storage systems in “peak shaving and frequency regulation” effectively enhancing the regional power grid’s capacity to absorb new energy and providing solid support for the high-quality development of Xinjiang’s new energy industry and the construction of a new type power system.

In desert environments characterized by extreme diurnal temperature variations and frequent sandstorms, the stability and lifespan of energy storage systems face severe challenges. Extreme temperature control, fearless of extreme climates
Employing efficient intelligent liquid cooling temperature control technology, the temperature difference of the battery cells is controlled within ±3℃ through precise temperature control of circulating coolant. This effectively copes with the high temperatures and extreme cold in desert areas, significantly slows down battery degradation, suppresses the risk of thermal runaway, and ensures continuous and efficient operation of the system within a wide temperature range of -35℃ to 60℃.
Long lifespan design, superior economic efficiency throughout the entire lifecycle.
We select long-life lithium iron phosphate cells, combine them with advanced battery management algorithms and balancing technology, and with the assistance of a liquid cooling system, we significantly improve battery cycle life and reduce the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) over the entire life cycle, creating long-term investment value for our customers.
Intelligent regulation and integrated management
The system incorporates East’s independently developed Intelligent Energy Management System (EMS), achieving millisecond-level response and precisely executing grid ancillary services such as peak load shaving, frequency regulation, and voltage regulation. It also supports remote monitoring, intelligent early warning, and fault diagnosis, improving operational efficiency and safety.
Intensive and efficient, fast deployment
Adopting a standardized, modular, and prefabricated design, it features high energy density and a small footprint, supports rapid hoisting and parallel connection, significantly shortens the construction cycle, and provides a solid guarantee for the project to be connected to the grid on schedule and at full capacity.
The successful grid connection of this project fully demonstrates East’s technological strength and outstanding delivery capabilities in the field of large-scale energy storage system integration.
